Hi Sarah as I commented on your blog this morning --I think you would find regardless of when a student has to do a presentation or how much advice we give most struggle at it. But they are not alone. It always amazes me when I watch an educator do a presentation grab their notes and read from them -- what the? we do this all the time - why read?

As I also mentioned it would probably help if they were video recorded and had the opportunity to watch themselves back. ESL students gain from listening to their own audio. I also suggest you pop past Kate Foy's blog and asked her for some suggestions on how to improve how your students do their presentations dramagirl.wordpress.com. Kate is great and will have lots of excellent tips.

Thanks for telling - in a later posts that my post did help some of your students.

Giving up bullets is hard and the first time you make a presentation 2.0 is does feel confronting. Good luck :)

I have been thinking about you and this post a lot the last week. The first reason is because I marked 2 days worth of presentations this week. They were terrible which is a shame because I had given the students the links to your posts about presentations-they obviously hadn't read them! The second reason is I am off to a couple of conferences myself and am very interested in the concept of presentations 2.0 so have found your posts to be really useful. I am not sure I can give up the bullet points but I'll try!?!

Hi Diane - I just had to bring these comments into a post. There was so many great points that it was a shame for people not to learn from other people's tips.

Kate - Actually now that I have been back at work for a week am missing the conference life - amazing. Thanks for the gold star but has to go to all my readers that shared their tips and thoughts.

Welcome back Sue.
Nice not to be living out of a suitcase, I bet! Only so much conference lifestyle a girl can take.

Thanks for the mention and for a top post. I've tagged you to my del.icio.us page and I'll be referring to it as a great resource. You've crunched so much into a terrific example of practice-led research and collaborative learning (spot the aca-jargon). Seriously, a gold star for you!
